Stress is a condition that is characterized by emotional and mental strains that are always harmful. A stressed person is prone to psychological breakdown. Causes of stress are very numerous. People react to the causes of stress differently. Our workplaces can be our source of stress. Causes of stress in the workplace include being unhappy with the job, working for long hours, working under dangerous conditions among other causes. Life stress is other form of stress. Under life stress, there is the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job and getting married.
Stress can also emanate from inside a person. Meaning that one can stress themselves out by worrying about certain things. The fear of certainty, attitude and perceptions, unrealistic expectations, and major life changes can make a person worry a lot hence resulting to stress. Stress is not something that is healthy. People are advised to try as much as they can to relieve themselves from stress. There are some negative health effects that are associated with stress. Examples are a headache, fatigue, and irritability and difficulty in sleeping. The worst can happen with some of these health implications of stress. However, there are ways that can help a stressed person to do away with the stress.
The simple tips of dealing with stress are as follows. Stressed people are advised to avoid caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine. Nicotine and caffeine are known to be stimulants. These substances affect increasing the stress levels as opposed to the belief of reducing the stress levels. Aalcohol, on the other hand, is a depressant in large quantities but not an effective way of dealing with stress. Another way of managing stress is getting enough sleep. Lack of sleep has been identified to be a cause of stress. Another tip of managing stress is the utilization of the relaxation techniques. Majority of these relaxation techniques have been tried and tested.
The other way of dealing with stress is through doing exercise. Stress is accompanied by the increase in the levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. Exercise, therefore, can be used as a surrogate to metabolize excessive stress hormones so that one can reach a more relaxed state. Even the slow exercises can still assist one to achieve these effects. Walking in fresh air can also be useful. Working out on a daily basis is even a much better remedy.
The are several mechanisms on how exercise help to relieve stress. Exercise has the effect of pumping endorphins into the body. These are brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters. Exercises help a person to forget about someone’s day irritations. The mood of a person can be improved following an exercise session. The symptoms of depression and increasing the confidence of a person are the ways that exercise assist in improving the mood of a person.
